Mouthpiece Underparts for
Natural Horn

Horns by Richard Seraphinoff
Modern-day
interest in the Natural Horn, for solo or ensemble performance, demands both
horns and mouthpieces of "original" design. Because of the very
long taper and narrow bore of the antique Natural Horn, the mouthpiece contour
must be an ideal match. Ordinary mouthpieces, though they may be very
efficient for the modern double, single Bb or triple horns, are NOT generally a good match
for the classic Natural Horn or Waldhorn.
I
supply several screw-rim mouthpiece underparts exclusively designed for Cor Alto
and Cor Basso. These are modeled on early 19th-Century examples as
described by Dauprat and other 19th-Century pedagogues:
Model NCA: for Cor Alto (crooks in F, E, Eb and higher), very deep, convex contour, #11 bore, without backbore. Available in Giardinelli-type threads and stem as requested. Underpart price $75
Model
NCB: for
Cor Basso (crooks in D, C, tief B, H etc.), very deep, convex contour, wide
vortex, #1 bore, without backbore. After W. DeMare, teacher of Wendell Hoss.
Available in Giardinelli-type threads and stem as requested. $75
