Frazunk
If you have landed on this page, it is a positive sign of an inquisitive mind. In the course of my career as a musician and artisan I have been asked about this wonderful word. Unfortunately I never had the opportunity of studying with the first known user of Frazunk, Anton Horner. But I have corresponded with several hornists who were his pupils. One of these fortunates quoted Mr Horner as explaining "Horn playing iss all tone und Frazunk!" Asking what Frazunk is...well, it's like asking Charlie Parker what jazz is. His answer might have been "Man, if you've gotta ASK, then you can't know!" Those who HAVE Frazunk recognize it in another's playing. Brahms without Frazunk? Absurd! Unscented roses.
